Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection documents the life of Frank Buffler and his family ginning business during the late 1910s through the early 1960s. In this collection, there are receipt books from the numerous gins that the Bufflers were associated with, including the Cloverdale Gin, the Ed. Buffler Gin, A.J. Buffler Gin, the Frank Buffler Gin, and the Buffler Bros. Gin. There are also bank statements, checkbooks, receipt books, and ledgers included in this collection. Each of these detail the daily and monthly processes of the family business. These also help display the dual management of family and business affairs. Numerous books, magazines, and catalogues are included that establish the reading materials of the family and the latest business techniques to help continue the success of the ginning profession. There are many years’ worth of correspondences between the Buffler family (and business) that communicate how important this family business was to the communities that surrounded it.
