Scope and Contents of the Materials
Ernest Borgnine (January 24, 1917-July 8, 2012) was an American actor. His collection includes scripts, some of which are from the TV shows McHale's Navy (1962-66), Airwolf (1984-87), and The Single Guy (1995-97). His collection also includes VHS tapes and DVDs.
Biographical Note
He was born Ermes Borgnino on January 24, 1917 in Hamden, Connectict. His parents immigrated from Carpo, Northern Italy. In 1935 he joined the Navy and after he returned home in 1945 he began working in local factories while still trying to figure out his career choice. He began taking classes before making his first acting debut on Broadway. Afterwards, he later moved to Hollywood and began acting in motion pictures in the 60s and 70s and later in several animated works.
Ernest Borgine died at the age of 95 on July 8, 2012, in Los Angeles.
