This collection contains certifications and awards received by Dr. Ethelbert B. Norton during and after his tenure here as President of the university. It also includes several photographs amd a christening gown.
Biographical Note
Dr. Ethelbert B. Norton served as president of what is now the University of North Alabama for 24 years, from 1948-1972. He served as Alabama's Superintendent of Education, the U.S. Deputy Commissioner of Education, as well as was a member of the U.S. Education Mission to Japan (Post World War 2) to help initiate educational reform. He died December 21, 1998 at the age of 96.
