(Taken from the foreword of the journal) This journal chronicles a year in the life of Julia Alice Brady, a sixteen-year-old from the northeast (near Philadelphia) and her year-long travels around the Eastern United States. The pages of this journal help tell the story of Julia and her unwavering spirit during a critical point in her life-the diagnosis of tuberculosis that was ravaging the population at the time.
Biographical Note
The journal was transcribed and retyped on a typewriter by June Middleton (Mrs. Hamilton Castner Albaugh, Jr.) in March 1987.
